Scorpio N or Scorpio S11 on rent: how they differ and which to choose

Scorpio N rent price against Scorpio S11 rent per day in Jaipur, how the two really differ for a renter, and which one suits your group, route and bags.

Quick answer

The Scorpio N is the newer, larger and more comfortable car, and at the last catalogue check it was listed above the S11 at every Jaipur branch offering both. The S11 is the top trim of the older Scorpio Classic: a diesel manual with a firmer ride and, usually, side-facing rear seats. Choose the N for long drives and comfort. Choose the S11 if it is cheaper for your dates and most of your group fit in the first two rows.

Scorpio S11 and Scorpio N are two different cars

'Scorpio S11' on a rental listing means the top trim of the Scorpio Classic, the older design Mahindra kept on sale. The Scorpio N is a separate, newer model. The rent gap between them buys a real difference in comfort, so it pays to compare the cars and not just the two numbers.

How the difference feels on a real trip

Autocar India's comparison of the two is blunt. In the Classic, passengers get tossed around more on bad roads and the car leans noticeably in corners because it is tall and narrow. The N passes on far fewer shocks and feels less top-heavy, and its front and middle seats are better shaped. Over a long day, that is the main thing you pay for.

The Classic does have a practical side. It is shorter and narrower, and that helps in tight lanes and when parking. On safety kit, Autocar India lists dual airbags on the Classic, while Spinny's comparison gives six on the Scorpio N. Check the variant on your rental, as trims differ.

Seven seats does not mean seven people and their bags

Both listings show seven seats, and neither car handles seven adults with luggage. Autocar India says the Classic's boot space is limited by its side-facing third-row seats. On the N, it says the third row is cramped for head and knee room, and that with all rows up the boot holds little more than groceries.

So plan on five adults and bags, or six or seven people on a short run with very little luggage. Ask the provider for a photo of the third row before booking. Side-facing seats are hard to recommend for a long drive, and layouts differ between S11 cars. For a larger group, the family car guide for Jaipur compares the Carens, Ertiga and Innova Crysta.

Reading the Scorpio N and S11 rent price in Jaipur

The table below shows the current rent per day for both models at each provider. At the last check, the N was listed above the S11 at each branch that had both, and rates for the same model differed between branches. Deposits also vary, so compare rate and deposit together.

A lower daily rate can still lose. Compare these before you decide:

  • Km allowance: these listings do not state one, so ask. MG Car Rental's FAQ says most plans are unlimited but that you should check yours.
  • Length of a day: MG Car Rental states a minimum booking of one day, meaning 24 hours.
  • Fuel: both are thirsty next to a small car, so ask for the return rule. The Classic's tank holds 60 litres and the N's 57.
  • Pickup: compare the Scorpio N in Jaipur and Scorpio S11 in Jaipur pages for location.

Check the fuel type yourself: listings can be wrong

Some Jaipur S11 listings show petrol. Autocar India lists the Classic with a 2.2-litre diesel, and the S11 name refers to that car. The Scorpio N really is sold with both, so a petrol N listing could be right, but the only way to know is to ask.

This matters more than it sounds. The wrong fuel can damage the engine, and it is an easy mistake on a car you do not own. Read the label inside the fuel flap at pickup, and ask whether the car takes diesel or petrol before you leave.

Which one to choose: a quick decision guide

Work down this list and stop at the first line that fits your trip.

  • You need an automatic: only the Scorpio N, and only if the provider confirms the car is one. Most Jaipur listings are manual.
  • You are driving more than two or three hours a day, or carrying older passengers: choose the N for the ride.
  • You want 4x4: only some Scorpio N diesels have it, so get the variant in writing. The S11 is rear-wheel drive.
  • You are staying near town with four or five people: the S11 is enough if it is cheaper once km and deposit are counted.
  • You are new to big SUVs: the S11 is the shorter and narrower car, but it leans more in corners, so take bends gently.
  • You have more than five people with bags: neither. Look at the Jaipur car rental listings for the Innova Crysta or two smaller cars.

When this comparison does not apply

If you want a driver, these rent-per-day figures are not your price. Chauffeur-driven hire is usually billed by distance, so read self drive or taxi in Jaipur before comparing. If you are looking outside Jaipur, the catalogue may not have either model, so check your city page first.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Scorpio N rent per day?

The table on this page shows the current listed rate from each Jaipur provider. These are listed rates, not quotes, and they change with dates and demand. Ask what km allowance comes with the figure you are given.

Is the Scorpio S11 the same as the Scorpio Classic?

Yes. S11 is the higher trim of the Scorpio Classic. It is not a separate model and it is not the Scorpio N. Ask the provider for the model year if you want to be sure which car you are getting.

Which is better for a Jaipur to Jodhpur or Jaisalmer drive?

The Scorpio N, mainly for its ride and seats on long stretches. Confirm the km allowance first, since a long trip makes it the largest number on the bill. See the km limits guide for the sum.

Can a Scorpio really take nine people?

The Classic is sold in a nine-seat layout, but the Jaipur S11 listings here show seven. Do not carry more than the registration allows: section 194A of the Motor Vehicles Act sets a ₹200 fine per excess passenger on a transport vehicle, and the vehicle can be stopped until they get off. This is general information, not legal advice.

Does either car come with a driver?

MG Car Rental marks its Scorpio listings as self drive. Other listings do not say either way, so ask. A driver is a different booking with a different price.
