Mumbai rental comparison
The Mumbai car list is a modest one of hatchbacks, sedans and a few automatics from third-party providers. A car here is mostly worth it for the fast roads that two-wheelers cannot use and for trips out of town, so think about your route before the model.

Each of these models has more than one listing here, so its page compares them side by side.
A self-drive car can use all four of the routes that are off limits on a scooter: the Sea Link, Atal Setu, the Expressway to Pune and the Coastal Road. The Coastal Road now connects with the Sea Link, giving a fast run along the shore between Marine Drive and Bandra. Stopping, getting out and taking photos are prohibited on the Coastal Road, however good the view.
Tolls apply on several of these routes. Ask the provider how they are paid, and whether they are added to your final bill.
Lonavala is about 85 km away, and the Expressway makes it an easy day out. Alibaug is around 95 to 110 km by road, and going over Atal Setu to Chirle and on through Pen takes about two to two and a half hours, compared with three or more through Panvel and Karnala.
In the monsoon, check traffic updates before you head for the ghats, because heavy rain can close or slow these routes at short notice.
Parking is the real cost of a car in Mumbai. Street space is scarce and illegal parking can mean towing as well as a fine, so before booking, ask your hotel or host whether a space comes with the room. Also ask the provider how it handles traffic challans issued while the car was with you.
Look for 'Automatic' in the listing name, such as the Honda City or Maruti Celerio, if you would rather not work a clutch through this much stop-start traffic. For a group, a seven-seater such as the Renault Triber makes more sense, though it is worth asking how much luggage fits with all the seats in use.

How this comparison is built
This page compares 16 listings from Rentrip, most recently checked on 4 Nov 2026. Stated in the source data: a deposit on 0 of 16, a km limit on 0 of 16, and a pickup point on 0 of 16. Rates outside our validation range read "Price on request" instead of being compared. CarBikeRent.com does not rent vehicles: you book with the provider, who confirms the final price.
Read our data methodologyCommon questions
Yes, both are open to private cars, unlike two-wheelers. Check current opening hours for the Coastal Road, because these have changed several times. The Sea Link is a tolled route, so ask how a rental handles that.
Check this with the provider first, along with the km allowance. The Expressway is the quick way to reach both. Budget for tolls on top of the rent per day.
The listings here do not show a terminal pickup, so ask the provider for the exact location and whether it delivers to the airport. Tell them which terminal you are using, or if you are flying into Navi Mumbai. T1 and T2 are separate buildings, so a vague meeting point can cost you time.
Do not assume they are, because policies vary. The provider will confirm what is included, including the fuel level expected at return. Ask for that in writing before paying.
